DanceSafe Releases Updated Fentanyl Test Strip Distribution Report

DanceSafe has published its updated fentanyl test strip (FTS) distribution and efficacy report for the 2025-2026 period, documenting expanded distribution networks and updated detection thresholds for novel synthetic opioids contaminating the illicit drug supply.
The report documents the continued prevalence of fentanyl and its analogues in the North American illicit drug supply, with positive FTS test rates for cocaine, counterfeit pills, and stimulants remaining alarmingly high. The organization notes that nitazene-class synthetic opioids — which may not trigger standard FTS results — represent an emerging harm reduction gap.
DanceSafe has expanded its distribution program to 47 US states and is partnering with Canadian harm reduction organizations on cross-border distribution. The report recommends the combination of FTS testing with naloxone availability and the Never Use Alone protocol as the minimum harm reduction standard for anyone using substances obtained through any channel.
